The outlet in my bathroom has stopped working.

Your outlet should be a GFCI protected Electrical Outlet, you may just need to find the reset button.
the button is usually a black button on the face of one of your outlets when found push to reset.

or you may have  a GFCI circuiut breaker that feeds your bathroom circuit, it will have a red test  button on the breaker you reset by flipping the breaker the off position and then back on If you still do not have power, or the outlet is not GFCI, you need to call a professsional Electrician.

What is a GFCI device or breaker?

GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter.
The device protects you from electrical shock.

Outside GFCI's not working.

Heavy rain or power washing can damage these outlets and
they may need to be replaced.
Check the main electrical panel for a tripped breaker first. 

How do I reset my breaker when it has tripped off?

First, turn off any appliances that may have caused the 
breaker to trip.
Make sure the breaker is all the way off before attempting to
turn it back on.
Then turn it back on.
If it will not reset, you will need to call electrical service to have
it looked at. 

My smoke detector keeps beeping. What does this mean?

It may need new batteries.
If the beeping continues after adding new batteries, it could be
defective and should be replaced. 

What should I do if my lights, switches and receptacles don't work?

Check to see if the outlet is connected to a switch.
Then check and possibly reset, the GFI or the circuit breakers,
It may be as simple as a new light bulb. 

Kitchen and Bathroom outlets not working.

Reset all the GFCI outlets in the house.
Usually, if all the outlets in a room are not working, this is the issue. 

All major appliances and/or half of electricity not working. (dimmed lights)

Usually, this is a phase out which is a Dominion Power issue.
Call 1-888-667-3000 for a free, usually same day, repair. 

Do I need a surge protector for my computer?

A good quality surge protector can do a lot to protect your computer,
as well as your other appliances, against power surges. 

Can I simply upgrade my breaker to one with a higher rating, to keep
it from
jumping all the time?

No! Each breaker in your panel is there for the sole purpose of
protecting the wires that run through that particular line.

Why does my florescent fixture make a humming sound?

It could possibly be caused by loose laminations in the core. or by the way
the ballast is mounted onto the surface.
